Switch Off

There are times when you may want to have your computer turned off automatically. Maybe you would like to fall asleep while listening to your favorite music or watching a movie or maybe you are downloading a file over night and you would like the computer to turn off after the file is downloaded. Windows includes a simple feature for putting the computer into standby or hibernation mode but unfortunately, this feature doesn't always work and has some limited settings. Switch Off can be a much better solution in this case.

This Windows program allows turning off or putting the computer into standby or hibernation using various settings. The installation wizard of Switch Off completes in matter of seconds, requiring only a few clicks. After installing and running the program, the user will be shown an icon in the system tray, from where he can access the program's configuration window. Using this window, one can configure the program to turn off the computer after a specific amount of time or when it is no computer activity.

Switch Off can be set to turn off the computer only once, using the set interval, or daily. Besides turning off the computer or putting it into standby mode, Switch Off also allows disconnecting the Internet Dial-Up connection or running a certain script at a predefined time. The program includes a sample script which opens the Windows Calculator, but the user can easily create his own script.

Using the right click, the user can access a special menu using the system tray icon, which allows turning off the computer after a certain amount of time, by selecting various presets. This feature is extremely useful for inexperienced computer users who don't want to deal with the program's configuration window.
